Por un solo hombre

Razteria’s single “Por un solo hombre” (“For one man”) releases on October 20, 2022. It describes her first reflection stamped in her mind when Ukraine was first invaded in February 2022, her gratitude for her life and her empathy for the Ukrainian people who suffer because of the madness of just one man. “Que afortunada soy, queda impresa en mi mente…” – “How fortunate I am, it stays imprinted into my mind…” the reflection of the millions of children who can’t go to school… and all the people who cannot return home.

For Razteria, the song describes how the concentration power in the hands of only one man, results in suffering. She states that she believes that there is a common desire to live simple, happy lives and hopes that the conflict can be quickly resolved to minimize all suffering on all sides. “Por un solo hombre” was co written and produced by Dave Shul and features Alcide Marshall on Drums. It was mixed by Razteria and mastered by Trakworx. The music video was shot and edited by Alex Zajicek.

Historia de un Amor

Song: Historia de un Amor
Artist: Razteria

Razteria’s reggae cover of “Historia de un Amor” (Spanish for “the story of a love”) was produced in collaboration with NJ-based UK-Jamaican musician Derek Brown and features Waddell Bell on bass, Dave Shul on guitar, Glenn Holdaway on trumpet, Liam Robertson on saxophone, and Joan Reggae Drummer. This classic love song, originally written by Panamanian songwriter Carlos Eleta Almarán in 1955, has been covered by hundreds of artists worldwide in various languages. Razteria’s rendition is accompanied by a music video at the historic Hotel Mac in Point Richmond, featuring a performance by the innkeeper Desiree Heveroh, shot by Alex Zajicek and was edited and directed by Jeremy Snowden.

Lyrics:

Ya no estás más a mi lado, corazón (You are no longer by my side, my dear)

En el alma solo tengo soledad (In my soul I only have loneliness)

Y si ya no puedo verte (And  if I can no longer see you)

¿Por qué Dios me hizo quererte (Why did God make me love you?)

Para hacerme sufrir más? (To just make me suffer?)

Siempre fuiste la razón de mi existir (You were always the reason for my existence)

Adorarte para mí fue religión (To adore you was my religion)

Y en tus besos yo encontraba (and in your kisses I found)

El calor que me brindaba (The heat that gave me)

El amor y la pasión (Love and passion)

Es la historia de un amor (This is a love story)

Como no hay otro igual (That has no comparison)

Que me hizo comprender (That made me understand)

Todo el bien, todo el mal (All that is good, and all that is bad)

Que le dio luz a mi vida (That gave light to my life)

Apagándola después (And then took that light away)

Ay, qué vida tan oscura (What a dark life)

Sin tu amor no viviré (Without your love, I cannot live)

Me gusta estar sola

“Me gusta estar sola” (I like being alone) was written in the winter of 2022 in my solitary moments, having chosen to be alone during the holiday season. It is an intense contemplation of the sheer enjoyment of solitude that is necessary to the creative process. It is also a double edged sword, as in solitude you sacrifice moments together with friends and family.

Co-written and co-produced by Dave Shul. Drums by Jay Lane. Mixed by Razteria Mastered by Trakworx. Cover art by Jamie Soja. Video edited by Sheila Da Silva.

Madre Tierra

Happy Earth Day! Feliz dia de la Tierra! My new track “Madre Tierra” (Mother Earth) is a tribute to the magnificence of the World, sung in Spanish with a few words in Quechua, an indigenous language spoken throughout South America. I was inspired by the complex, nuanced lyrics and theme of the anthemic song “Latinoamérica” (Calle 13), written by René Perez Joglar now known as Residente @residente together with Eduardo Cabra and Rafael Ignacio Aracaute. Instead of speaking about Latin America, its people and environment, the song’s imagery is focused on the natural world as a whole. Link in bio to listen.

Ser feliz

With butterflies in my heart, bitter and sweetness, the 2 extremes that so delicately balance out my state of happiness, which floats in a world that drowns in pessimism. I feel very fortunate in my life, my family, my friends, the love of music and creating sounds together with other deep souls. I hold a space for those who are struggling physically and mentally, and I hope that I can bring a little light through my optimism. Today, symbolic for me for many reasons… I am proud to present “Ser feliz” – – to be happy, a song about growing up and finding your happiness. Created with Dave Shul, Alcide Marshall (drums), and Roberto Quintana (Percussion). Photo by Soja Photography.
