Tocar las Estrellas

Album is no. 9 for SF Bay Area artist

San Francisco Bay Area artist Razteria’s new album, Tocar las Estrellas, will debut March 20, 2023 on all streaming platforms.

“Tocar las Estrellas, my first full length album in Spanish, was co-written and produced with veteran musician/producer Dave Shul. He challenged every idea, pushing me to explore new styles and to make the songs the best that they could possibly be. It was a challenging and humbling experience,” she states. “The title track represents my life as a hopeful romantic, how the muses in life and love, like the Stars, are always out of reach, but yet always there for us to revel in their beauty and to inspire us to grow and create.”

Ser feliz

The butterflies in my heart, they tickle with bitter and sweetness, the 2 extremes that so delicately balance out my state of happiness, which floats in a world that drowns in pessimism. I feel very fortunate in my life, my family, my friends, the love of music and creating sounds together with other deep souls. I hold a space for those who are struggling physically and mentally, and I hope that I can bring a little light through my optimism. “Ser feliz” – – to be happy, is a song about growing up and finding your happiness, created with Dave Shul, Alcide Marshall (drums), and Roberto Quintana (Percussion).

Me gusta estar sola” (I like being alone) was produced by veteran musician and producer Dave Shul (Ex-Michael Franti & Spearhead, Los Mocosos). It features Jay Lane on drums (from RatDog, Bob Weird, Sausage, Alphabet Soup, Freaky Executives, Primus and more). It was mixed by Razteria and mastered by Trakworx.

“Me gusta estar sola,” a psychedelic rock song, was written in the winter of 2022 during Razteria’s solitary moments over the holiday season. It reflects the intense contemplation and sheer enjoyment of solitude that is necessary to the creative process. However, this state is a double edged sword, as in solitude you sacrifice moments together with friends and family. The intense dynamics and instrumentation recall classics like Queen and Jefferson Airplane

“Madre Tierra” (Mother Earth), is a song by Razteria, a tribute to the magnificence of the World, sung in Spanish with a few words in Quechua, an indigenous language spoken throughout South America. Razteria was inspired by the complex, nuanced lyrics and theme of the anthemic song “Latinoamerica” (Calle 13, tag), written by René Perez Joglar now known as Residente (tag) together with Eduardo Cabra and Rafael Ignacio Aracaute. Instead of speaking about Latin America, its people and environment, the song’s imagery is focused on the natural world as a whole. Madre Tierra music was co written and co-produced by SF Bay area musician Dave Shul and includes Jay Lane on drums. Mixed by Razteria. Mastered by Trakworx. Photo by Capitan Walas

100% is about giving life your all, accepting yourself, the decisions that you make, and the fact we are not in control, as well as embracing that there is wisdom in the Universe. The backdrop of the song was inspired by Razteria’s experience of almost becoming a mother, twice, but accepting that the time wasn’t right, not dwelling on loss but moving on, and keeping her mind and life open to possibilities.
